Our Story

The Mill Yard stands as a prominent establishment in Wausau, Wisconsin, celebrated for its status as a premier bar and grill. We've become renowned for our daily drink and food specials, a beloved tradition of Fish Fry Fridays, and our irresistible Broasted Chicken. What sets us apart is not just our culinary delights but also our owner's unique journey. Matt, our dedicated owner, spent his college years immersed in the world of bars, serving, bartending, and managing. However, his original career path led him into healthcare, where he devoted more than two decades to nursing. In 2021, Matt ventured back into the bar industry, acquiring Matt's 101 Pub and discovering immense success. Inspired by his passion for serving and helping people, Matt expanded his vision in 2023 with the acquisition of the Mill Yard, further enhancing the vibrant atmosphere of the Wausau community. Here at the Mill Yard, we bring together the best of both worlds, offering exceptional hospitality and delicious cuisine, all fueled by Matt's unwavering passion for making people's experiences memorable.

First time dining at the Mill Yard. Came in right before the early dinner rush so it was a bit busy, seemed like only one person working the bar n tables and she was doing a great job keeping up with the demand of everything going on and she was super friendly. I ordered the Irish burger and my boyfriend ordered the mushroom and Swiss. Absolutely delicious!!! Will definitely be going back! Side note: I did bring my two children with, they were able to play arcade games and enjoy the TV watching the brewers game. Definitely a great place
