Our Story

The Mill Yard stands as a prominent establishment in Wausau, Wisconsin, celebrated for its status as a premier bar and grill. We've become renowned for our daily drink and food specials, a beloved tradition of Fish Fry Fridays, and our irresistible Broasted Chicken. Matt, our dedicated owner, spent his college years immersed in the world of bars, serving, bartending, and managing. However, his original career path led him into healthcare, where he devoted more than two decades to nursing. In 2021, Matt ventured back into the bar industry, acquiring Matt's 101 Pub and discovering immense success. Inspired by his passion for serving and helping people, Matt expanded his vision in 2023 with the acquisition of the Mill Yard, further enhancing the vibrant atmosphere of the Wausau community. Here at the Mill Yard, we bring together the best of both worlds, offering exceptional hospitality and delicious cuisine, all fueled by Matt's unwavering passion for making people's experiences memorable.

The bartender had a full bar, she was also the waitress. We have been at places with a full staff and didn't get the service she gave. She never lost her smile, we had full beverages and our food timely. And we were in the back furthest from the bar. About 20 people came in at once, and she was still on top of everything. Very good experience.
